This hotel has one of the best bayside views the city can offer. Guests who request a room with a view will be treated nightly to a romantic display of lights along the glimmering suspension bridge. The SoMa (South of Market) neighborhood, once dominated by industry, is now known for the expensive live/work lofts that took over at the height of the dot-com era. It is certainly less glamorous and less Victorian than many areas of the city but is convenient to the Financial District and Union Square and has especially easy freeway access. An evening wine reception and morning coffee and tea service add to the welcoming ambience created by the hotel’s stylish décor. The 131 rooms are small but classy with their cool modern design; subtle stone colors in mauve, gray, pale green and yellow complement the faux painted walls, designer fabrics, and tailored canopy beds. One suite is available for those who prefer more space. |
