This grand hotel was built in 1946 as a memorial to the Marines who lost their lives in the Pacific during World War II. The large and traditional lobby is a testament to military history with its display of Marine artifacts. The library and museum are also open to the public and house an admirable stock of military publications and relics. Conference rooms range up to 3,444 square-feet, and since each affords a view of either the Bay, the Financial District or Nob Hill, this is a popular venue for weddings, reunions and other social events. The standard guest rooms are traditional and formidable with their dark cherry furniture and marble bathrooms. The 13 large suites feature unique décor that spans from Polynesian to old English, and they include varying levels of amenities such as fireplaces, wet bars, full kitchens and dining rooms. Suites can also be used for meetings of 15 to 50 people. Members of the military are eligible for discounted rates. |
