| Reopened in 2006 after a $6.5-million renovation, this luxury lodge is located in one of the Bay Area's most expensive enclaves and features excellent views of the San Francisco skyline. It's a short ferry ride or convenient drive over the famed Golden Gate Bridge from the city. With just over 100 well-appointed rooms and suites, the hotel nevertheless manages to feel intimate, thanks to its professional staff. Spacious accommodations are outfitted in cream and chocolate tones, with FeatherBorne beds, flat-screen TVs, DVD and CD players, work desks, and gourmet tea and coffee makers. Suites may also have Jacuzzis or kitchenettes. The property blends earth tones and natural elements to create the serene atmosphere of a spa oasis. Private cabanas hug the outdoor pool and hot tub, while inside by the lobby fireplace lounge, an efficient small business center offers an impressive range of complimentary services.
