| Those enamored of the old-world charm of North Beach and Washington Square will be pleased to discover this friendly, pleasant hideaway. Of the English-style rooms, fifteen face the park, and two have bay windows overlooking the square---the latter are definitely worth requesting. Accommodations are cozy and often small, and are as quiet as can be given the public park location. All have private baths, and some have king-size beds. Fresh orchids highlight the English feel. Prices include breakfast, afternoon tea, wine and hors d'oeuvres. The personable staff acts as concierge; ask to see their restaurant menu file for dining options, as the area abounds in great Italian restaurants. You'll be lucky to find parking in North Beach, so be prepared to pay to stash your car. |
