Despite its size (21-stories, 329 rooms), the JW Marriott San Francisco has a decidedly intimate atmosphere amid the hustle and bustle of the city. This exquisite property, built in 1987 by architect-developer John Portman, was entirely redone in the fall of 1997 and again in 2004. Once you get past the first three floors of public spaces, the rooms echo the contempo-classical architectural details of the exterior with lots of arches, recesses and expanses of marble. They feature custom-designed furniture, desks with Herman Miller Aeron chairs, luxurious bedding and amenities, Bose radios, wireless Internet access, LCD flat screen televisions and more. The bathrooms are nearly as large as the rooms, with all-marble surfaces and a separate tub-shower arrangement. The business center is full service, and flexible meeting space (measuring 11,820 square feet in total featuring panoramic city and Golden Gate Bridge views) is also available. The Level III restaurant located in the hotel lobby opened in 2008 and features contemporary Californian cuisine by award-winning chef Ben Mattman. |
