1000 Figs Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: Before 1000 Figs existed, a popular food truck called The Fat Falafel popped up all over town. After clocking many miles in the vehicle, the owners opened this restaurant in Mid-City, right near City Park. Big picture windows, a shiny wooden floor and (very few) tables that bring to mind old-time school desks with drawers that hold your silverware are signature elements.

Likes: Brussels sprouts and the reasonable prices.
Dislikes: No desserts.

Food & Drinks: The Mediterranean menu is limited, but what's there is full of flavor. Lemony Brussels sprouts arrive over greens and red cabbage, while the signature falafel has just the right crispiness and a touch of cinnamon. Opt for a falafel sandwich or a falafel platter with hummus, pita bread, feta and slaw. Try the french fries, fried twice so they are crispy on the outside and softer on the inside. Consider as well the tender smoked chicken sandwich on semolina bread. While you will not find distilled spirits, there’s a limited selection of beer and wine (the half dozen or so wines are available by the glass or bottle). Additionally, you can enjoy a refreshing hibiscus tea or house-made lemonade. You may be mildly disappointed that there are no desserts, but happy to know that two percent of the profits are donated to the goal of planting 1000 fig trees in New Orleans.
