THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED 1200 Bistro & Lounge Restaurant Review: The restaurant is sexy in an understated, downtown sort of way. The lively bar and ambient dining room (and host-owner Kenny Carlson) are inviting, and the staff is happy to assist with creative recommendations for light diners, like pairing a salad and side dishes with a large special order of mussels, served in a creamy mustard sauce with kale. Those combinations are as pleasing as ordering one of the pizzas. Entrées are satisfying, from braised beef short ribs to bison meatballs and orecchiette---served in full and half-portions. The small menu is accented by a strong wine list, with domestic and European pours and bottles; a full bar offers apéritifs. Diners come to enjoy, whether before scooting off to a movie or to linger all evening by candlelight, discussing which dessert to share---a nightly special, a plate of truffles and cookies, or a few hunks of decadent artisan cheese.
