1808 Grille Restaurant Review: The Hutton Hotel exudes a modish mid-’60s vibe, and this, its in-house restaurant, is well worth visiting even if you’re not staying at the property. Breakfast offers cinnamon challah french toast (also available at brunch), a chorizo breakfast burrito and a smoked salmon panino, while the lunch menu features vegetarian panzanella and a signature house sandwich called “The McGrattan” that changes daily. For dinner, executive chef Charles Phillips does a stand-up job of pleasing all comers with wide-ranging dishes such as tortellini with kale and crimini mushrooms or a vegan “stroganoff” made with seitan and portobello mushrooms. There’s also a knockout Moroccan lamb T-bone. Desserts might include banana beignets with hazelnut anglaise or lavender panna cotta. Choose from the selection of more than two dozen wines by the glass, as well as quite a few select bottles, craft beers and specialty cocktails. The wine list roams the planet, offering European, Southern Hemisphere and American choices, plus lots of Champagne and sparkling wines and more than a few large format bottles for special occasions.
