38 Degrees Ale House & Grill Restaurant Review:

In 2009, Clay Harding, Chuck Fata, Mike Fata and Brian Sugita opened this modern gastropub in a sprawling downtown Alhambra space. Executive chef James Boyle continues to refine the menu, which features impressive size and scope. In addition to a very respectable signature beef burger with onion relish, garlicky aïoli and Point Reyes blue cheese, you’ll find turkey and chorizo-bolstered pork burgers, plus a ground rabbit sandwich with fried green tomato, poppy seed purée and pimento cheese on a house-baked bun. Entrées include steak frites with brandy-peppercorn sauce and smoked and seared yellowtail with soba noodles and pineapple miso sauce. Finish with an imperial stout-infused chocolate mousse topped with espresso cream. Harding oversees a progressive craft beer program that includes 38 rotating taps, beer flights organized by style, and frequent events with brewers. The restaurant even offers a weekend happy hour menu highlighting interesting, affordable small bites.
