The 40/40 Club, New York, NY

The 40/40 Club Restaurant Review

: Hip hop artist-entrepreneur Jay-Z and partners named this sleek sports bar after baseball's 40/40 Club --- an honor bestowed upon players who hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in one season. The unofficial club includes only four members (Jose Canseco, Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez and Alfonso Soriano, in case you were wondering), but rest assured that this multi-level restaurant/lounge plays host to many more patrons than that. The space boasts a collection of autographed jerseys among its sports memorabilia, as well as four state-of-the-art LED TV displays, plus numerous LCD and plasma models for viewing games. Crab cakes, a decent rib-eye steak sandwich, and a plethora of salads are available any time, as are Southern- and Latin-influenced dishes such as chicken empanadas and catfish fingers served with Cajun rémoulade. Desserts include red velvet cake. Beer, wine and cocktails are offered.
