400 West Restaurant Review: Renovated and centrally located, the Westin San Diego is an ideal hotel for business-oriented stays; likewise, its American bistro, 400 West, is a relaxing spot for lunch or business dinners. Both kids and pets are also welcome. Chef Anthony Lucido’s menu is touted as American, but also has an Italian and Asian slant. A few notable choices include the lightly fried sesame shrimp tempura with sweet ginger jam and the ahi tartare tower with avocado and mango. Skip the gelatinous chicken lettuce wraps as well as the short ribs; but the chicken piccata Milanese, with its panko bread crumbs, lemon beurre blanc and shaved Parmesan, is a good bet. For lunch, standouts include the chicken or ham and Gruyère panini or wild mushroom ravioli with kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes and pine nuts. |
