THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED 5th St. Ribs & Blues Restaurant Review:
Designed to soothe the starving sophomore, this 'cue joint appeals to all comers. The ribs taste smoked and have a good texture, but the meat falls too easily off the bone to please the purist, who will suspect the use of steaming or oven cooking as part of the cooking process. While it has a decent flavor, the barbecue sauce is too ketchup-like. Cole slaw is acceptable if not distinguished, while the Brunswick stew has the right consistency but a questionable taste. Still, if you're in Midtown from out of town and hankering for 'cue, this is a decent stop. And if you're that starving sophomore, it's positively gourmet. A fair number of brews on draught make this popular with the scholarly set. The live blues have been replaced by blues on the sound system.
