610 Magnolia Restaurant Review

: Chef-owner and cookbook author Edward Lee has established a national reputation with appearances on "Iron Chef America" and "Texas Top Chef." But his elegant, eclectic dishes are firmly rooted in the bounty produced at local and regional farms. The intimate dining room at 610 Magnolia has a subdued d├ęcor, which acts as the backdrop for the artistically presented food. The four- and five-course prix-fixe menus (with optional wine pairings from an extensive cellar) change weekly. But a representative salad consists of garden greens topped with grilled watermelon, duck confit, pistachios and mint, and drizzled with preserved lemon vinaigrette. Stone Cross Farms pork loin and belly with sweet corn grits is given a Spanish inflection with spicy/nutty romesco sauce. Carrot cake served with sweet pea ice cream is a colorful, not to mention delightful, dessert. Service is professional. Once you have booked a table, whether at 6 p.m. or 9 p.m., it is yours for the evening.
