Restaurateur Steven Arroyo (Cobras & Matadors) has introduced a cozy, welcoming wine bar to downtown South Pas, a few steps off the Gold Line. A small wine bar, butcher paper-topped tables illuminated by vintage lighting fixtures and dark walls with subway tiles give the place an edgy, bohemian look in this suburban city. There are about 15 wines offered by the glass, along with 50 bottles from around the world priced under $50. The menu is dominated by traditional bistro dishes, including a passable duck confit, cassoulet and steak frites---rather ambitiously priced---with a béarnaise sauce that gets the job done. It all makes for a pleasant experience, whether one wishes to just nibble on some cheese with a glass of Côtes du Rhône or enjoy a full dinner complete with chocolate soufflé.
