THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Aamanns-Copenhagen Restaurant Review

: It’s all about the smørrebrød at this Danish eatery, located in a sort of no man’s land between SoHo and TriBeCa. What is smørrebrød, you ask? Think tartines, or open-face sandwiches. But this being of a Scandinavian nature, the bread is rye, and it’s quite good. Kale “tartare” with radicchio and apple is fresh and healthful, and worth ordering on another visit. For something heartier, consider the pâté, sprinkled with hazelnuts and dotted with beets. Breakfasts consist of crunch bread and butter, while dinner usually proposes one or two more substantial Danish classics. Coffee is served in the morning and cocktails at night. Be sure to try one of the many house-infused aquavits; it might help you accurately pronounce smørrebrød, after all.
