 ABC Kitchen Restaurant Review: There are few places in the world where you can browse for a Persian rug or new furniture and then mull over possible purchases at an elegant restaurant in the same building. Welcome to ABC Kitchen, Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s restaurant on the ground floor of ABC Carpet & Home. In keeping with the style of the moment---that is, 2010---the food here has an organic and locally sourced focus. The menu is lengthy, made up of pre-starter starters (called Market Table), starters, whole-wheat pizzas, pasta dishes, and mains. The inventive pretzel-encrusted calamari was texturally sound and fun to eat. For entrées, fried organic chicken is served with collard greens and spicy gravy while black sea bass is accented with chilies and herbs, and paired with baby market potatoes and spinach. The wine list, a notch or two in price higher than we would like, offers some first-rate selections, including a few by the glass. And drink enough of it, and you just might end up redecorating your house.
