THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED ABV Restaurant Review:
Chef Corey Cova has expanded his repertoire from tiny, cheese-heavy Earl’s Beer & Cheese to ABV, his equally downtown-ish wine bar, taking his culinary creativity and treating diners to a menu with solid small-plate hits. With an eclectic selection ranging from crispy fish tacos served with kimchi and queso fresco to the clever and satisfying foie gras Fluffernutter, the menu is lots of fun. The latter dish is made with a smear of real marshmallow fluff and peanut butter, caramelized on white bread. Go for a three-ounce pour of wine or a full glass, chosen from among the many offered on tap, each with its ABV (alcohol by volume) specified to help you moderate. Then thank Cova for bringing his experience from Momofuku uptown to this relatively quiet neighborhood. The cozy, exposed-brick room has communal picnic tables, bar seating in two areas, and appropriately subtle lighting to encourage lingering and trying out flights of wine or beer.
