Akbar's Own Dining Lounge Restaurant Review: Named for Mughal emperor Akbar the Great, this local favorite of Indian food lovers offers well-executed dishes and professional service. The kitchen turns out authentic Kashmiri and Mughlai dishes enhanced with puffy breads and delicately balanced spices and flavours. Lightly fried shrimp pakoras, zinging with ginger and green chilies, are crunchily wrapped in sesame-seed batter. Particularly good are the fiery prawn vindaloo or the more subtle prawn Kashmiri, cooked with butter, tomatoes, apples and cream. Biryanis, heady with saffron and shot through with your choice of chicken, lamb, prawns or vegetables, are standouts. Vegetarians will also be pleased by dishes like the alu gobi --- chopped cauliflower and potato. |
