Al Duca Restaurant Review

: Al Duca has become one of the stalwarts of Mayfair dining. It has a pretty, simple décor with warm terra cotta colors and no-nonsense tables and chairs, reminiscent of any good restaurant in Italy. And the cooking is gutsy, regional and honest. An antipasto of mozzarella comes with tomato and red onion salad, aubergine caviar and basil croutons; pastas --- available as gluten-free and wheat-free on demand --- range from black truffle and mushrooms to Italian sausage, pecorino cheese and broccoli. Mains might be classic calf’s liver with mashed potatoes or seared tuna in herbs, which comes with mange tout and radish. Classic desserts complete a thoroughly good-value experience. The wine list is short and to the point, completely Italian, and carefully chosen. Pre- and post-theater menu 2 courses £16.50, 3 courses £19.50.
