Even in the flashy, pop-art atmosphere of The Block at Orange, this brewpub, dominated by a scaled-down replica of the Golden Gate Bridge in the middle of the dining room, is conspicuous. The kitchen serves up solid American comfort foods such as pub-style appetizers, sandwiches, hand-tossed pizzas, entrée-size salads, and traditional if not typical mains and desserts. But the big draw is brewmaster Robb Macleod’s beer creations, like Weiss Guy Wheat, Pelican Pale Ale, Big House Red Ale and Pudgy Monk Porter. There’s also a rather good by-the-glass wine list and a nice selection of specialty martinis.
