We venture to guess that the majority of patrons at Alfieri are guests at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, but locals in search of authentic Italian dishes may wish to take a drive out to Harbor Island to sup on cioppino, ravioli, gnocchi and risotto. We like to get started with the blue lump crab cake with lemon-caper-butter sauce and the tender jumbo lobster ravioli in fennel broth. Fish preparations are a specialty---don’t miss the seared sea bass or halibut with tomatoes, olives and garlic. The pollo Parmigiano is nothing like the greasy American version; it is light and crisp and accompanied by a sun-dried tomato-cream sauce. Cap off the meal with topnotch coffee and pistachio-chocolate chip cannoli or caramel mousse glazed in dark chocolate.
