THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Alice's Arbor Restaurant Review:

In a neighborhood that was once a no-go zone for many of the people who didn’t live there, Alice’s Arbor in Bed-Stuy is a lovely, dimly lit restaurant with a menu that emphasizes using local ingredients. The “market,” selling Brooklyn-made food products, accosts the diner upon entry. Sit at the long bar, perhaps imbibing one of the house cocktails (Brooklyn fizz, anyone?) or a glass of wine (which are affordable, especially by the glass). Or take a seat in the rustic, exposed brick dining room. The kale salad, with the nice tangy addition of blood orange, and the crab cakes, which are made with kataifi, a phyllo dough found in Middle Eastern cuisine, are stand-out starters. Hanger steak gets a Southwest accent with tomatillo salsa, and the cod is nicely paired with a mellow celery root purée. Finish things off with the extra creamy cheesecake. And be sure to greet Alice, the pink bull’s head on the wall, on your way out.
