THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Alison Eighteen Restaurant Review:

Don’t call it a comeback. Alison Price Becker made waves in the New York dining sea in the ’90s with her restaurant Alison on Dominick. When it closed she was gone for a decade but resurfaced with this solid, almost stately eatery in the Flatiron District. She’s even hired back the same chef, Robert Gurvich. There’s nothing cutting-edge on the menu and everything is beyond the border of affordable for most people, but the majority of diners should leave feeling fairly satisfied. The menu boasts plenty of salads, but don’t resist the plump mussels wading in a creamy sauce. Then move on to the tender spit-roasted veal shank or, for something lighter, the poached salmon with a just-sweet-enough fennel marmalade. Speaking of sweet, desserts are good, so save room. We especially like the milk chocolate mousse dome. The lengthy wine list offers a few affordable options by the glass.
