 Years ago, the Colonnade’s resident restaurant was the Polo Grill, a scenester’s mecca. Since then, the space has been home to a handful of ambitious eateries, none of which set the town on fire. However, we’re happy to say that the “curse” was broken by Alizée. The “boutique bistro and wine bar” was given a modern remodeling: deep reds, rich woods and abstract oils create a sophisticated, unstuffy setting for contemporary American fare. The kitchen is in the capable hands of Jermaine Brookshire, whose menu concentrates on such hearty East Coast favorites as Virginia fried oysters with smoked chili mayo, jumbo lump crab cakes, Chicken Chesapeake and Maryland home-style meatloaf with mashed red skin potatoes. A strong wine list includes both reasonably priced and splurge-worthy international selections.
