Alla Spina Restaurant Review: Chef Marc Vetri of Vetri, Osteria and Amis Trattoria, is behind this Italian gastropub just off burgeoning North Broad Street. The look is casual with an urban edge --- garage door-style windows roll up in the warm weather months to reveal walls decorated by a professional graffiti artist. The hearty food is perfect for passing around the table and pairing with Alla Spina's list of local craft brews and bottled Italian beers. Fried pig tails with fennel agro dolce set the tone for adventurous eaters, who also will want to sample the rich poutine with guinea hen leg Bolognese and mozzarella curd. Alla Spina offers its own riffs on familiar bar snacks, too, including porcini deviled eggs and house-made pretzels with spicy beer cheese. It balances out the fried food category with lighter fare such as zucchini with lemon, oregano and basil, and cucumber with peperoncino and mint. Finish off the meal on a hearty note with maple-glazed fried chicken or go for something a little greener with the 60-day dry-aged rib-eye salad.
