THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Allegro Cafe Restaurant Review:

A gem of a restaurant for those in the know, Allegro Café is worth the short jaunt up I-787 to one of downtown Troy's prettier streets. Chef-owner Andrew Plummer is known for plating up eclectic bistro fare that employs a melting pot of ethnic influences, including Caribbean, Italian and Asian. Plummer changes the menu every four to six weeks , but in the past, we've been wowed by the stuffed peaches with Gorgonzola (hey, what diet?), as well as the warm goat cheese and black mission fig salad. Keep an eye out for the calamari fra diablo and grilled yellow fin tuna finished with ginger-lime butter sauce; the restaurant also features a different Hawaiian fish every few weeks. The café doubles as a small gallery as well, and be sure to check out the Chef's Jacket, where celeb diners have scrawled niceties about the cuisine. Allegro's wine list, while not lengthy, is nicely chosen and wins big points for featuring a slew of bottles that come in under $25.
