After going through a few high-profile chefs in a short period of time (Neil Ferguson and Ryan Skeen have both come and gone), this Lower East Side eatery (on the intersection of Allen & Delancey Streets) is hoping for a little stability. The restaurant, though, continues to produce the high-quality fare that has made it a go-to place for fat-tastic fare like guinea hen, smoked ham knuckle and foie gras terrine, and pork belly with a thin, lush layer of lard. The edgy opulence of the atmosphere also remains: the brick, candlelit, wood-paneled, chandeliered rooms, full of antiques and curios, feel so lived-in that you half expect an eccentric oenophile to emerge and welcome you to his private dinner party.
