Allison's Country Cafe Restaurant Review

: The name says it all. This family-run café is all about small town charm and hearty home-style food. A Ventura mainstay for 30-plus years, Allison’s is among the city’s most beloved breakfast nooks, serving up hotcakes and waffles, omelets, grits and good ol’ biscuits (folks loved those so much the owners decided to sell them by the dozen; they also peddle jars of their homemade jam). Lunch, too, draws a crowd. But while burgers, sandwiches and salads hit the spot, breakfast is when this midtown eatery really shines. The corned beef hash is made in-house. Fluffy buttermilk hotcakes arise out of batters such as granola, blueberry, banana nut, pumpkin nut and chocolate chip. California- and Mexican-style omelets are also popular, as are morning classics like steak and eggs.
