| This dark-hued, romantic spot serves up a wide array of Argentinean cuisine at affordable prices. Set on 8th Street, a new restaurant row of sorts where shoe stores have become eateries, Alma 33 offers $4 wines by the glass and very good cocktails clocking in $8. The food can be hit or miss, with the chef at times trying too hard by piling on one too many (or sometimes two too many) ingredients into a dish. The best options here rely on simplicity. The Milanese skewers---essentially wienerschnitzel on sticks---were nicely prepared, avoiding the usually greasiness that comes with the dish. The rosemary-seasoned skirt steak is also a good bet. |
