Almeida Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review: Almeida Restaurant & Bar’s large, bold interior is fitting given its attachment to the Almeida Theater, one of London’s best non-West End venues. It’s great in the evenings, but seems bleak if not full at lunchtime. The clever daily changing menus have something for everyone. Choose a warming spiced celeriac soup and pickled pear to start, or go for the always topnotch charcuterie board with a generous selection. Mains range from wild sea bass to venison with baked beetroot. Small plates are served at the bar; the children’s menu is sensible and the lunch menu a value. Prices are reasonable; there’s a good wine list and the service is professional. Set 2-course lunch, pre- and post-theatre menu 2 courses £19, 3 courses £22.
