Like pub-style food that pulses with a youthful edge? That’s what’s on tap at this local restaurant group that serves dishes with definite Southwestern and Southern influences. Stars of their show may well be their Stars of Mozzarella, an appetizer of star-shaped mozzarella coated with Parmesan cheese and fried. But their signature soup deserves its own star: The Potato Cheese soup is thickened with melted cheese and garnished with bits of bacon and scallions. It’s dreamy, creamy. We also were delighted with the Buffalo Chicken salad, for which the kitchen plays with some favorite flavors-pepper sauce and blue cheese-to come up with peppery chicken tenders on greens with crumbles of blue cheese. The menu continues with a bar theme, with funky pizzas and some classic sandwiches. But big hitters may save their calories up for the steak, chicken, or pasta entrées, such as the Jambalaya Pot Pie. Want a really gooey dessert? What about the S’More Sundae, with those childhood favorites, graham crackers, chocolate bars and toasted marshmallows. The Herndon location jumps at meal times, so expect a wait.
