| Larry Forgione's An American Place has taken residence on the fifth floor of department store Lord & Taylor. Best known as the godfather of American Cuisine, Forgione once oversaw three restaurants in town (An American Place, Restaurant Above and Manhattan Prime). Despite its department store location, the eatery still features Forgione's farm-fresh seasonal ingredients, used in dishes such as the country-style BLT sandwich with crisp applewood-smoked bacon, the roast turkey harvest salad (julienne of roast turkey breast, caramelized sweet potatoes, apples and sweet onions, mesclun, dried cranberries and cornbread croutons tossed with orange-cranberry vinaigrette) or the L&T tea sandwiches. Don't plan on coming for a leisurely late dinner: the restaurant closes at 3 p.m. |
