| You won’t find completely authentic Italian fare at Amerigo, because this regional chain has tailored its offerings to please American palates. But despite this fact, the restaurant features pastas, steaks, fish and pizzas, all prepared in so many variations that guests may dine here often without repeating a dish. Options range from the predictable eggplant Parmesan and chicken Marsala to a filet with truffled mushroom ragoût. The wood-fired pizzas are a local favorite. Try the house-smoked chicken and spinach pizza with sun-dried tomatoes. Though nice enough for a date, Amerigo also has a special child’s menu with the usual finger food fare. For dessert, try the pecan butter crunch cake with ice cream and an apple-cinnamon glaze. Amerigo also offers gelato and sorbets that rotate daily. The small wine list is heavy on California wines with only a few Italian selections. |
