THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ametller Restaurant Review

: Guests at this rustic West Village eatery are encouraged to stay and “chill out” after their meal. And why not? With huge picture windows looking out on Christopher Street and Waverly Place, a smattering of old wooden tables, a menu of French-Catalan dishes, and an old Village bohemian vibe, Ametller (pronounced: ah-met-e-yer) is the perfect place for morning coffee or a late-night chat over a bottle of vino. The owner has concocted a menu reminiscent of the food his French-Catalonian mother fed him. The hearty ouillade, a chorizo and chickpea stew with strong hints of fennel, the saltimbocca-like barca (served with chunky mashed potatoes), and a croque monsieur that’s served with one-inch-thick peasant bread draw West Villagers into Ametller; the BYOB policy and relaxed atmosphere keep them here.
