The downtown location for the popular local chain draws a big crowd at lunch and on the weekends, when parking can be a pain. The festive, family-owned cantina, offering authentic Tex-Mex, has all the expected fare is all on the menu: nachos, quesadillas, chimichangas, burritos, tacos and enchiladas, along with owner Nell Hyltin’s legendary tamales and homemade chili relleños. Our hands-down favorite is the hearty chicken and beef fajita platter, served with grilled onions and bell peppers and generous portions of sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, shredded cheese and lettuce, ready to wrap in the warm flour tortillas. Ask for the special hot-hot salsa. The drink of choice is a margarita, frozen or on the rocks. Their specially designed margarita machine can pump out 1,500 drinks an hour.
