| Boasting the “oldest hand-carved bar in America” that remains the centerpiece of the restaurant and prominently displaying Boston’s first draft beer pump, Amrheins has been a favorite of Southie’s old-time politicos since it first opened its doors. The restaurant now boasts flat-screen TVs that surround the regular folks who still hang out at this old haunt, and the menu features casual fare such as the classic turkey club or the chicken Caesar wrap. Regulars still return for their large portion of tender sirloin tips. You can still find some items that hearken back to the days of old Ireland with dishes like shepherd’s pie and the pan-seared hot pastrami sandwich. |
