Andrea's Restaurant Review

: Chef/owner Andrea Appuzo's upscale Italian restaurant has been a suburban Metairie fixture for more than a quarter century. The chef's light touch with seasonings reflects his dedication to allowing the full flavors of the food to emerge. Known for his creative renderings with fresh seafood (try the Dover sole with caper meunière sauce), Apuzzo peppers his menu with a variety of antipasti, fruits de mer and scampi. A Mediterranean touch is evident from the caprese salad to the veal scaloppine to the cioppino. The wine list is as well thought out as the menu, and offers respectable international selections. For dessert, consider the Italian ice creams, or, for two, the warm zabaione, prepared tableside. Adjacent to the restaurant, the colorful, airy Capri Blu Bar offers a piano bar and is a good spot for after-dinner drinks (try the “Electric Lemonade”). The charismatic Apuzzo is very much in charge of his kitchen, but makes frequent appearances in the cavernous dining rooms.
