Andrea's Restaurant Review: Chef/owner Andrea Appuzo's upscale Italian restaurant has been a suburban Metairie fixture for more than a quarter century. Appuzo's light touch with seasonings reflects his dedication to allowing the full flavors of the food to dominate. Known for his creative renderings with fresh seafood (try the Dover sole with caper meunière sauce), Apuzzo peppers his menu with a variety of antipasti, fruits de mer and scampi. Mediterranean influences range from the caprese salad to the veal scaloppine to the cioppino. For dessert, consider the Italian ice creams or authentic Sicilian cannoli filled with chocolate or vanilla ricotta cheese. The well-though-out wine list offers respectable international selections. The charismatic Apuzzo is very much in charge of his kitchen, but makes frequent appearances in the cavernous dining rooms. Adjacent to the restaurant, the colorful, airy Capri Blu Bar with its piano bar is a good spot for after-dinner drinks (try the “Electric Lemonade”).
