Anglesea Arms Restaurant Review: The Anglesea Arms remains a local institution. And while many gastropubs have gone posh, here the main point remains the cooking, which is inventive and inspired. Starters are around £8, mains run from £11.50 to £19, so prices are London-led. Dishes are chalked up on a blackboard and change daily. Made from fresh, seasonal ingredients, they run the gamut from smoked eels with pea croquettes to the kind of dish --- perhaps roast beef or calf’s liver --- that keeps the cold at bay. Desserts might be poached fruits with flavored creams. The wine list rewards the cautious as well as the adventurous. |
