The Angus Barn Restaurant Review: Known for its wine list as well as its first-rate beef, the Angus Barn remains one of the most beloved restaurants in the area. Chef Walter Royal, winner of the "Iron Chef" title on the Food Network, heads the kitchen, which offers both standard steakhouse fare and French specialties. Royal’s most imaginative efforts are showcased at specially planned events held in the intimate wine cellar, far removed from the cacophony of the massive dining rooms. The Wild Turkey Lounge upstairs is a cozy spot to enjoy oysters Rockefeller, onion rings or barbecued ribs. Best bets on the regular menu are the porterhouse steak, the succulent prime rib, or the rack of lamb. Vegetarians may choose a cheese-filled ravioli or grilled seasonal vegetables. All should save room for dessert and opt for the famous chocolate chess pie or apple crisp. The Barn is known for its friendly service and extensive wine list; it includes a line-up of first growth Bordeaux and notable Burgundies. Among the latter is a collection of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Wines from Idaho, New York, Canada and North Carolina are available, too, and ports and Madeiras are well represented.
