Intelligent fast food ceases to be an oxymoron at this gem from Robert Bell and Michael Franks (the owners of Redondo Beach’s acclaimed Chez Mélange and other South Bay hot spots). Carved sandwiches on La Brea Bakery bread are delicious, especially the French dip, twice-cooked corned beef and BLTC, which adds Cheddar cheese to the venerable favorite. Don’t miss the silken chocolate mousse, which lives up to its name. As if the food isn’t reason enough to drop by, the nifty café is conveniently located near a cinema multiplex in the Rolling Hills Plaza.
