Antica Posta Tuscan Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review: The Betti brothers divide the duties at Antica Posta: Marco handles management, while Alessandro wears the top toque. A soaring dramatic bar space enables guests to enjoy a comfortable upholstered banquette or small table while chatting and sampling the appealing bar menu. Tender grilled octopus is perhaps the best in the city. In the intimate dining room, well-spaced tables ensure privacy in conversation. Risotto, made to-order, comes al dente and must be patiently anticipated. Don't pass up the gnocchetti di patate --- light potato dumplings --- or any house special pasta. Treatments are traditional, with no experimental nonsense. Osso buco is classic, for instance. Rack of lamb is served pink and lightly perfumed with rosemary, and the roast chicken is flavorful and tender. Rib-eye, sliced and perched atop wilted arugula, rivals anything a steakhouse could purvey, while salads, based on arugula, feature good balsamic vinegar in the vinaigrette. Ice creams are house-made, and the panna cotta pairs well with its fresh berry topping. The heart of the wine list is Italian, with some standard American selections, though we wish there were some California-Italian choices.
