A pretty, pastel-hued restaurant with a fountain near the front window, Aram is a lovely place for a quiet dinner. Well-prepared Persian dishes include charbroiled kebabs made with a variety of meats and cuts including lamb chops, chicken breast and filet mignon. An interesting way to sample Aram’s wares is to order the Aram combination, which features all of these plus fish, served with three kinds of rice. Saffron-tinged basmati gets crowned with cherries, dill and lima beans, barberries, and most compelling, a blend of raisins, lentils and dates. Top stews include fesenjan, steamed chicken with a pomegranate-walnut sauce; and ghormeh sabzi, beef with green onion, red kidney beans and spinach. Lunch specials are real bargains. The bamieh, a golden pastry made with rosewater, is crispy and sweet, and the Persian ice cream is light with flavors of rosewater, pistachio or saffron.
