| This casual spot boasts an Italian quarry tile stand-up eating bar, a modern California-Provençal setting, and a varied menu that accommodates a light meal, quick snack or simple take-out. One reason to stick around: the wine shop next door offers frequent tastings and wines by the glass. You're encouraged to move between the two joints and enjoy sips and snacks. When you finally sit down for food, try the grilled sandwiches which remind us of Europe. The croque Arlequin (ham, Gruyère and Dijon) or the bacon, Vermont cheddar and grilled pear are good bets. Cold sandwiches, salads and specialty cheeses sold by the ounce round out the menu. To finish, try the house-made ice creams, sorbets and frozen yogurts, especially the ginger frozen yogurt or the tangerine sorbet if it's available. |
