Arnold’s Country Kitchen Restaurant Review: This is it, folks. If you want to know what Middle Tennessee tastes like, steer your fork to Arnold’s, just on the cusp of downtown in the shadow of a rail trestle. Around here, “meat-and-three” means a choice of meat plus three vegetables, though some opt for meat-and-two. Just get in line, grab a tray and silverware, and prepare to be sated. Collard greens are sultry with the scent of pork. Fried chicken is golden crisp and juicy. Meatloaf is hearty and well seasoned. The stewed apples, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra and that only-in-the-South vegetable, macaroni and cheese, are all quite good. Don’t forget to grab a bowl of banana pudding before you leave. No alcohol is served, so have some iced tea.
