 Artist Point Restaurant Review: If you're looking for an unusual culinary experience, this dining room at Wilderness Lodge is inspired by America's turn-of-the-century national park lodges, with grandiose landscape murals and two-story windows with spectacular views of a man-made volcanic meadow with bubbling color pools and geysers spewing misty steam in the air. Artist Point capitalizes on the Disney fantasy, with a menu that takes advantage of the diverse harvest from the temperate coastline of Washington, Oregon and British Columbia, and the woods and wheat fields of Idaho. Start with the smoky portobello soup with roasted shiitakes and chive oil or the “BLT” with sweet-chili-lacquered pork belly, baby heirloom tomatoes and baby greens. Hearty meats, like beef tenderloin and buffalo strip steaks, are usually on the menu. But our favorite choice is the cedar plank roasted salmon with confit artichokes and bacon-egg vinaigrette. The wines are all from Washington or Oregon, and because many of the vineyards are small, some allotments are rare. Favorite desserts include a rich chocolate indulgence and a warm berry cobbler. |
