| Affecting the atmosphere more than the temperature, the two-sided stacked stone fireplace roars with warmth in cold weather. The stone adds a major dimension to the texture of the restaurant’s décor. Good music on the sound system---blues, contemporary---provides a pleasing but not intrusive noise level. Start with a warming bowl of lobster bisque, or a selection of the sundry raw oysters (choices change daily), or perhaps the crab cakes. Then move on to sharing a chopped salad, studded with chickpeas. Then it's on to the steak. The well-marbled rib-eye steak is a winner, in its huge 20-ounce portion. All the steaks are hunker-down size, except the filets, although at ten ounces, they're hardly small. Chicken and fish are available as well. Save room for one of the worthy desserts. The wine list provides not only boutique selections but also good values both by the glass and by the bottle. |
