Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken Restaurant Review:

A doughnut pioneer in DC with its first store opening years ago, Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, under the guidance of its talented chef Jason Gehring, puts out a dozen or so uniquely flavored treats, from daily crème brûlée and maple bacon to an occasional coconut cake, Nutella and cherry blossom, plus others. Flavors are more or less seasonal, depending on what the kitchen procures from local farmers. The genius, though, is turning a doughnut favorite into a fried chicken sandwich, a crispy delight that’s a sweet/hot/crunchy/chewy combo in one. Note: The company has started a doughnut food truck around town.
