Japanese Fried Chicken Anyone?
A new twist at Re.Past has chef-owners Joe Truex and wife Mihoko Obunai preparing their own version of fried chicken for supper. Calling the menu "Japanese Fried Chicken night," the pair may have in mind the fact that frying was a method brought to Japan by the Portuguese in the sixteenth century. So it's not too far from tradition in a way. Dinner includes a basket of Japanese fried chicken, Mihoko's Japanese pressed salad and Japanese soufflé cheesecake for $14 per person. Hitachino ginger beer for $6 each and shochu cocktails at $5 each make the meal potentially cost less than $20 before tax and tip.
