| Long before Southern, soul food or Cajun were trendy, then hot, then not, Aunt Kizzy’s was serving up platefuls of flavor from the deep South here near the Marina in an unlikely shopping center location. The smothered steaks and bean and rice concoctions, along with greens and other once plebeian veggies take on a new succulence here, and every bite is like a taste of down home kitchen table love. Still no alcohol served here but who needs it with their fresh-squeezed lemonade such a perfect foil for that rich food? Don’t forget the sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. |
