13 Restaurant Review:

When it comes to comfortable dining, 13 is a lucky number indeed. The restaurant is named for the thirteen British colonies that became the United States. Dripping with contemporary style, warmed by moody lighting, caramel leather and plenty of wood, 13 offers tasty versions of standard American pub fare, from spicy chicken wings and burgers to the ubiquitous cheesesteak. Lump crab cakes are first-rate, while the fried shrimp and grits convey Southern goodness. Calorie counters are mostly out of luck, although chef Judson Branch does offer simply grilled fish and seared chicken breast to offset the likes of truffle oven fries with shaved cheddar. Banks of flat-screens make this, and the Circ lobby bar, a magnet for sports fans. When the weather is warm, the Terrace at 13 delivers al fresco dining in a lushly planted outdoor scene.
